CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council announced funding for a water system improvement project at its meeting on Dec. 7. Details for the project is listed below.

Putnam County Commission – The council approved a $1 million grant to the Putnam County Commission for the Jim Ridge III water line extension, which will provide water service to 66 customers along Jim Ridge. This grant, along with funds from the Community Development Block Grant program, the county commission and other programs will provide $3.86 million for the project.

Other Business – The council also approved technical reviews and requests to pursue funding for an additional 10 sewer and water projects. The approval of these reviews and requests helps cities, municipalities and public service districts save taxpayer money and keep their water and sewer projects moving. The 10 projects found to be technically feasible and approved to pursue funding are listed below.

  • Danese PSD water system improvements estimated to cost $7.8 million
  • Hancock County PSD Newell System improvements estimated to cost $10.7 million
  • City of Huntington Wastewater Treatment Plant improvements estimated to cost $143.5 million
  • Webster County EDA Bear and Big Run water line extension estimated to cost $4.1 million
  • City of Huntington 3rd and 5th Avenue sewer separation estimated to cost $10 million
  • Logan County PSD Holden extension estimated to cost $11.4 million
  • City of Mannington Burt Hill Tank replacement estimated to cost $900,000
  • City of Parkersburg Water Treatment Plant improvements estimated to cost $12.6 million
  • Preston County No. 4 source of supply improvements estimated to cost $3.1 million
  • Wilderness PSD water system improvements estimated to cost $4 million
