Johnstown, Pa. — The West Virginia Wesleyan men’s basketball team (0-1) dropped their season opener on Friday (Nov. 12) night at the Pitts-Johnstown Tip-Off Classic versus the host school, Pitt-Johnstown (1-0).
Leaders for WVWC
Tyler Slone recorded a double-double scoring 22 points and bringing down 10 rebounds. Darius Green added 16 points and seven rebounds. Jamal Jacobs and Slone each had three assists to lead the Bobcats.
Inside the First Half
Darius Green started the game on fire scoring the Bobcats first eight points and led, 8-4. Caiden Landis would rally the Mountain Cats scoring six of the next eight points for Pitt-Johnstown and the Mountain Cats led 20-15. Pitt-Johnstown took 11 of the remaining 16 points of the first half and led 31-20 at halftime.
Inside the Second Half
The Mountain Cats begin the second half by sinking three, three-pointers and Green added one for WVWC, Pitt-Johnstown led 40-23. Fast forward 10 minutes, Tyler Sloan drilled a three-pointer and the Bobcats trailed 54-38. Following a media timeout, Sloan banged home another three, and WVWC trailed 56-41. Pitt-Johnstown would not let the Bobcats get any closer before winning 73-51.

The WVWC men’s basketball team returns to action tomorrow afternoon (Nov. 12) at 2 p.m. to finish up play in the Pitt-Johnstown Tip-Off Classic where they will take on Lock Haven.
