BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Wesleyan volleyball team (4-10, 0-1) was defeated by Charleston (14-2, 1-0) on Tuesday (Sept. 20) night at the Rockefeller Center in Buckhannon, W.Va.
WVWC Leaders
Freshman, Mya Bajramovic led the offensive attack for the Lady Bobcats with 10 kills. Payton Hefner tossed 17 assists. Defensively, Alexis Moeschler had 11 digs, Hefner added six. Joelle Lalla, Najla Bray, and Bajramovic all had two blocks.
Inside Set One
WVWC started set one jumping out to a 3-0 lead. Charleston scored four of the next five points to tie the score 4-4. Bajramovic responded with a tone setting kill to give the Lady Bobcats the lead back 5-4. Tied 8-8, Jayla Cowherd had a big kill for the Lady Bobcats to put them ahead once again 9-8.
Charleston battled to tie the score 13-13. Wesleyan earned their largest lead of the set on a service ace from Hefner 21-16. The Golden Eagles caught fire scoring seven of the next nine points to tie the score 23-23 forcing the Lady Bobcats to take a timeout. Charleston earned their first lead of the set before winning set one, 25-23.
Inside Set Two
The first eight points of set two were split 4-4. Charleston earned their largest lead of the game on a three-point run 13-9. The Golden Eagles ended set two on a nine-point run to win, 25-13.
Inside Set Three
Wesleyan led 6-3 to start set three. Charleston responded with a five-point run to lead 8-6. A kill from Jayla Cowherd cut the deficit to one at 8-7. The Golden Eagles took five of the next six points to lead 13-8. Charleston did not concede consecutive points to WVWC the rest of set three to win, 25-12.

WVWC will travel to Athens, W.Va. on Friday (Sept 23) for its first conference road game of the year versus Concord.
