TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc soccer team was blanked by the visiting Wheeling Park Patriots by a 2-0 score Saturday afternoon in a home contest.

The two teams battled to a scoreless battle in the first half.

Wheeling Park got onto the scoreboard in the 59th minute when Merritt Delk scored on a penalty kick.

Ellie Reasback had Wheeling Park’s second goal to put the game away.

“It was a very physical game,” stated Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Bob Greenough. “We gave up that penalty kick midway through the second half then injuries hindered us for the rest of the game.”

Wheeling Park owned a 12-7 lead in shots-on-goal and a 1-0 margin in corner kicks.

B-U keeper Kyndal Davis made 10 saves while Ryleigh Hicks turned away seven shots for Wheeling Park.

The loss dropped the Lady Bucs to 6-4-2 on the year.

They were slated to face East Fairmont Tuesday but a power outage moved the game to Wednesday night.

Buckhannon-Upshur will be back in action Thursday at Robert C. Byrd. The game will kickoff at 8 p.m.
