Former Bobcat Thomas McIntosh wins 2022 Charleston Public Tennis Courts Tournament

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Former West Virginia Wesleyan tennis player Thomas McIntosh ’20 fended off former University of Charleston rival Alek Gracin in three sets and won the 61st Charleston Public Courts Tennis Tournament on Saturday (July 16) at Schoenbaum Tennis Courts.

The former Bobcat dropped the opening set 3-6 to the former Golden Eagle. McIntosh forced a tiebreaker in the second set and came away with a 7-5 tiebreak victory and forced a rubber set. McIntosh cruised to a 6-3 win in the final championship set.

McIntosh, a graduate of George Washington High School in Charleston, was a four-year member of the WVWC men’s tennis squad. During McIntosh’s time at Wesleyan, he helped the Bobcats win three consecutive Mountain East Conference Championships (2017-2019). McIntosh is currently enrolled in medical school at Marshall University.

The Public Courts is one of the biggest tennis tournaments in West Virginia. The eight-day event featured 24 players in the men’s singles open division. McIntosh won five matches to capture the title.
