Buckhannon, W.Va. — St. Joseph’s Hospital and the Rotary Club of Buckhannon-Upshur held a blood drive on Friday, April 1 at the Event Center at Brushy Fork in Buckhannon.

The blood was drawn by Vitalant, the blood supplier for St. Joseph’s Hospital and United Hospital Center.  Blood supplies are critically low, so donors were strongly urged to give blood.  Thirty-eight units of blood were collected and another drive is in the planning stages.

As part of the blood drive, donations of non-perishable food were collected by the Rotary Club of Buckhannon-Upshur for the Upshur Cooperative Parish House Food Pantry. Items supplied were non-perishable foods including canned vegetables, canned beans, and grape jelly.

Skip Gjolberg, President and CEO of St. Joseph’s Hospital donated at the blood drive.
