WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Virginia Wesleyan (2-13, 1-12) women’s basketball team dropped a conference road game at West Liberty (4-11, 1-9) on Sunday afternoon by a 75-44 decision at the Academic Sports & Recreation Center in West Liberty, W.Va.
 
WVWC Leaders
Symphonie Bryant-Brown was the lone WVWC player to reach double-digit points, totaling 11. Cierra Tolbert grabbed 14 boards and contributed eight points. Electra Allembert recorded 10 rebounds, four coming from the offensive end.
 
West Virginia State Leaders
Bailee Smith swished two triples en route to a 20-point performance. Audrey Tingle facilitated the offense and dished out 12 assists. Tingle and Smith both had four steals. Arriana Manzay collected 11 rebounds.
 
Inside the First Half
Bryant-Brown scored the first three points of the contest after a made free throw and a good layup. Tolbert boosted the Lady Bobcat lead to 5-2 after a converted jump shot. The ‘Toppers bolted on a 12-0 run and built a nine-point lead. Wesleyan trimmed the deficit to seven points at the end of the first quarter. The home team led by nine and built a six-point run to take a 15-point lead with six minutes left in the half. Malaika Kimmons ended the scoring run with a jump shot that brought the score to 25-12 midway through the second quarter. The ‘Toppers outscored the Lady Bobcats 9-4 to close out the first half with a 34-18 cushion.
 
Inside the Second Half
Wesleyan trimmed the margin to single digits after Kimmons connected on a layup. West Liberty responded with a seven-point run. The WLU lead grew to 21 at the end of the third period after a triple from Tingle. The Hilltoppers scored the first six points of the fourth quarter and extended the lead to 64-37. WLU outscored the Lady Bobcats 17-7 in the final period and claimed a 75-44 victory.
