This week’s Hank Ellis All-Stars: Preston Bennett and Cadence Vincent

BUCKHANNON – My Buckhannon is proud to present another edition of the Hank Ellis All-Stars.

We will select a female and male athlete at Buckhannon-Upshur each week that has had an exemplary week on the mat, in the pool or on the basketball court.

Our Hank Ellis All-Stars for the week of Dec. 20-26 are Preston Bennett and Cadence Vincent.

Bennett in a junior on the swimming team.

In a home meet last week with Elkins, Nitro and Sissonville, Bennett took first place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.21 and was runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.74.

He was also part of two first-place relay teams – the 200-yard medley relay team and the 400-yard freestyle relay team.

Vincent is a junior on the swimming team.

At the home meet, she competed in just one individual event and shined in it.

Vincent set a new school record in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:13.61, shattering the old mark of 5:31.16 set by Maggie Miller in 2012.

She was part of two first-place relay teams, the 200-yard medley and the 200-yard freestyle and took second place on the 400-yard medley relay team.

Congratulations to Bennett and Vincent as our weekly winners of the Hank Ellis All-Stars honor.
