Family Weekend slated for Sept. 24-26 at West Virginia Wesleyan College

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan College will host the annual Family Weekend September 24-26. Families, students and the whole Wesleyan community are invited to participate in a wide variety of fun and engaging activities that will help you become even more familiar with our college, as well as the local community.

Registration begins Friday, Sept. 22 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Annie Merner Pfeiffer Library and reopens 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday.

On Friday, after enjoying the MIB Gallery Art Show on 48 East Main St. from 4 to 8 p.m., join us in the French A. See Dining Hall – open from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. – or visit a local restaurant. Conclude your evening by joining Dr. Tracey DeLaney, assistant professor in the Department of Physics and Engineering, at the practice track field on the riverwalk for stargazing at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, your Home Among the Hills offer several activities starting from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. with Yoga with Orin, screen printing T-shirts with the Art Department (bring your own T-shirt), and a tailgate lunch before the 1 p.m. home football game against West Liberty University on the Cebe Ross Field. Check out the Main Street Sidewalk Sale as many shops will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Buckhannon.

The day will conclude with Trivia Night hosted by Heavy B Productions. Grab your family or friends and compete for gift card prizes from Bobcat Entertainment at the French See Dining Center. The doors will open at 7:30 p.m. and the game will start at 8 p.m.

Wesleyan students, families and parents are also invited to participate in two community service initiatives: “Spread the Love” and “Clothes for Pros.” Bring peanut butter to be donated to the local food pantry. Family Weekend will end on Sunday with brunch at 11 a.m.– 1 p.m. on Sunday in the French A. See Dining Center. Later in the day, cheer on the women’s soccer team as they host West Virginia State at 7 p.m. at Culpepper Soccer Field.

All Family Weekend attendees will need to complete the required WVWC COVID Guest Waiver at registration. Please follow the universal indoor masking policy in effect.
