Yardley scores 24 as JV Bucs down Riverside, 48-44

TENNERTON – Luke Yardley had half of the Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Buccaneer offense in their 48-44 victory over the visiting Riverside Warriors Monday evening at the high school gym.

Yardley had a game-high 24 points as the JV Bucs improved to 2-3 on the season.

Yardley had four points, Carter Zuliani two and Jaden Westfall one as the JV Bucs trailed after one quarter by an 11-7 margin.

The JV Bucs won the second quarter by a 13-12 margin behind Zuliani’s five points and Yardley and Westfall each scoring four.

That left the JV Bucs down by a 23-20 score at the half.

The JV Bucs took over the game in the third quarter, winning it by a 16-10 score with Yardley putting in 12 points and Keyton Lanier adding four points.

That gave the JV Bucs a 36-33 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The JV Bucs took the final stanza by a 12-11 margin as Zuliani and Yardley each had four points while Nathaniel Ringer and Bryson Johnston each had two.

Following Yardley in the scoring column for the JV Bucs were Zuliani with 11 and Westfall with five.

Michael Terrell and Michael Conliffe each had 13 points to lead Riverside.

The JV Bucs will be back in action Wednesday at Parkersburg.

That contest with tip at 5:45 p.m.
