WVWC’s Robinson and Hudson earn MEC softball honors

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan softball shortstop Alli Robinson was named Mountain East Conference Player of the Week and pitcher Hannah Hudson was selected as MEC Pitcher of the Week on Monday (May 2).

Robinson, a Buckhannon, W.Va., native, slugged four home runs in the final week of MEC play. The junior infielder lifted a two-run dinger that was the lone offensive production in WVWC’s 2-0 win at Davis & Elkins on April 25. Robinson’s three-run home run versus Glenville State was the game-winning hit to propel the Lady Bobcats over the Pioneers in game two. In total, Robinson racked up seven hits, four home runs, two doubles, and 12 RBIs in six contests last week. Robinson was previously named MEC Player of the Week on April 4.

Hudson logged four wins in four appearances last week. She tossed a complete-game (7 inn.) shutout versus Davis & Elkins on April 25, where she struck out 10 Senators. Hudson picked up complete-game wins versus Concord and Glenville State. She then was called in relief during game two versus the Pioneers and was the winning pitcher to complete the sweep versus GSC. Hudson threw 24.2 innings and punched out 22 batters while only allowing 13 hits. This is the third time this season Hudson has received MEC Pitcher of the Week honors.

The Lady Bobcats will be competing in the MEC Tournament from May 6-8 in Salem, Va. Tournament seeds and game times are to be determined.
