WVWC’s Kreisel named MEC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference has announced the winners of this week’s Male and Female Tennis Player of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.

Mike Alexander Kreisel of West Virginia Wesleyan was selected as the MEC Male Tennis Player of the Week with West Liberty’s Evelina Martirosyan earning MEC Female Tennis Player of the Week honors.

Kreisel, a freshman from Altena, Germany, delivered two big wins as the Bobcats knocked off previously-unbeaten Bloomsburg (Pa.) by a convincing 6-1 tally on Friday. After teaming with Ayumu Seto for a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles, Kreisel gutted out a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 win against Vishesh Patel at No. 2 singles.

Martirosyan, a junior from Yerevan, Armenia, swept both of her singles matches and split her two doubles matches as the Hilltoppers defeated Shepherd and lost to St. Mary (Ind.) to close out their spring break trip to Hilton Head, S.C.
