WVWC men’s tennis picked fourth in MEC preseason poll

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The University of Charleston Golden Eagles have been selected to win the 2022 Mountain East Conference men’s tennis title after a vote by the league’s coaches.

Charleston finished atop the poll with 36 points, including six first-place votes. The Golden Eagles swept both the regular season and tournament titles a season ago, and returns the league’s Player of the Year in John Giesberts along with fellow All-MEC first team selection Marshall Dagostine.

Fairmont State was picked second in the poll with 30 points and one first-place vote. West Liberty was third (23 points), followed by West Virginia Wesleyan (22), West Virginia State (16), Davis & Elkins (12) and Frostburg State (8). 

The top four teams in the regular season advance to the MEC Tournament that will be held April 30-May 1 in Charleston, W.Va.
