BUCKHANNON — West Virginia Wesleyan volleyball rebounded from an opening-set loss to take down Concord University, 3–1 (16–25, 25–17, 25–16, 25–22), on Tuesday night inside the Rockefeller Center. The Lady Bobcats improved to 16–8 overall and 8–4 in the Mountain East Conference, while Concord fell to 19–6 (7–5 MEC)
Set 1 – Concord 25, Wesleyan 16
Concord jumped out to a quick 10–5 lead, capitalizing on early Bobcat hitting errors and a balanced attack led by Meg Williams and Maddie Stull. Despite a late push sparked by kills from Sabrina Carleton and Bhrooke Axe, Wesleyan couldn’t overcome the deficit. The Mountain Lions hit .074 while holding Wesleyan to a negative percentage in the opener
Set 2 – Wesleyan 25, Concord 17
The Lady Bobcats regrouped with a strong defensive effort and efficient setting from Mia Myers. After a 3–3 tie, Grassals and Carleton helped Wesleyan build separation with consecutive kills and an ace from Alexis Moeschler. The Lady Bobcats took control at 15–9 and never looked back, evening the match behind a .243 hitting percentage and four team blocks
Set 3 – Wesleyan 25, Concord 16
Momentum swung fully in the Lady Bobcats’ favor in the third. Axe dominated at the net with six kills on eight swings, while Denison and Halfin added timely points from the outside. Moeschler continued her stellar defensive night, picking up multiple digs to extend rallies. Wesleyan hit a blistering .469 in the set and never trailed after going up 6–2 early
Set 4 – Wesleyan 25, Concord 22
Concord came out determined in the fourth, battling to a 19–19 tie behind Williams and Adkins. But Wesleyan’s composure proved decisive—Grassals delivered two clutch kills, and Axe closed the door with a back-row finish that sealed the 3–1 match victory. The Lady Bobcats hit .217 in the final frame, closing the match on a 6–3 run in front of a lively home crowd of 182

Wesleyan finished with 58 kills, 71 digs, and 8 service aces, compared to Concord’s 38 kills and 49 digs. The Lady Bobcats out-hit the Mountain Lions .191 to .149 on the night.
The Lady Bobcats continue their march toward the conference playoffs with three matches to play. Currently, Wesleyan is in second place in the MEC South Division with the University of Charleston one conference win ahead of them.
Friday, Nov. 7, Wesleyan travels to Glenville State University for a 7 p.m. matchup against the Pioneers.
