WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital and Rotary Club to host spring community blood screenings

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital and the Rotary Club of Buckhannon Upshur will once again partner to offer a series of affordable community blood screenings this spring, providing residents with an easy way to monitor important health indicators.

The screenings will be offered by appointment only at two locations:

  • March 28 – Community Care of Rock Cave, Rock Cave
  • April 11, 18, 25 and May 2 – St. Joseph’s Hospital, Buckhannon

The basic blood profile screening costs $35 and includes several key tests commonly used to assess overall health. Additional optional tests will also be available for an added fee, including thyroid screening (TSH), colon cancer screening, hemoglobin A1C for diabetes, PSA prostate cancer screening for men, Hepatitis C antibody testing and Vitamin D testing.

“These blood screenings are a great example of how local organizations can come together to support the health of our community,” said Matt Scott, Director of Marketing and Communications at WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital and a Rotary Club of Buckhannon Upshur board member. “By offering affordable testing and convenient appointments, we hope to make it easier for people to stay proactive about their health and catch potential concerns early.”

Participants are asked to fast for 12 hours prior to their screening. Payment is accepted by cash or personal check, and test results will be available through MyWVUChart or mailed directly to participants’ homes. Appointments are required, and walk-ins will not be accepted.

Community members may schedule their screening appointment online at RotaryBloodScreening.as.me.

The annual blood screening initiative is part of Rotary’s commitment to promoting health and wellness in the community. By partnering with St. Joseph’s Hospital, Rotary helps make preventative health services accessible and affordable for residents throughout Upshur County and the surrounding region.
