William “Bruce” Edson Schooley

William “Bruce” Edson Schooley, age 71, of Buckhannon, WV, died Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at the Holbrook Healthcare Center in Buckhannon.

He was born October 14, 1952, in Ithaca, NY, a son of the late William Edward and Doris Lucille Murphy Schooley. On August 18, 1975, he married Vera Suzanne Horton who preceded him in death on December 21, 2020.

He is survived by one daughter, Liberty Dawn Schooley of Buckhannon; one son, Bryon Daniel William Schooley of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Alexa Noel Anderson Esparza and husband Luis of the United States Space Force, Natalia Faith Helen Anderson of NY and Gabriella Hope Mullens of Buckhannon and one sister, Carolyn Joyce Schooley Mallory and husband William of Buckhannon.

Mr. Schooley served in the U.S. Navy after the Vietnam War. He attended Cape Cod Community College and worked as a boat refurbisher on Cape Cod. While attending school he met the love of his life and moved back to Ithaca where he became an electronics technician.

Friends will be received Wednesday, June 26, 2024, from 1 PM to 2 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024, in the East Lawn Cemetery in Ithaca, NY.

The family would like to send a special thanks to the staff at Holbrook Healthcare Center for their compassionate care during Bruce’s time there.
