William “Bill” Beckner

William “Bill” Beckner, 84, of Buckhannon, W.Va., died Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at his home in Buckhannon.

He was born Jan. 31, 1935, in Upshur County, W.Va., a son of the late William Jennings Beckner and Maxine Ellyson Rongyos.

On March 5, 1983, he married Martha Ann Mackey who preceded him in death on Feb. 16, 2017.

He is survived by one daughter, Linda Rollins and husband John of Buckhannon; two sons, Michael Beckner of Rose Dale, W.Va. and Teddy Zickefoose and wife Ramona of Buckhannon; four granddaughters, Jayme Zickefoose of Buckhannon, Lauren Hinzman of Wheatland, Iowa, Ashley Zickefoose and husband Matthew of Buckhannon and Hannah Beckner of Rose Dale; one grandson, Brandon Zickefoose and wife Tiare of Buckhannon; six great-granddaughters, Alexis and Madison Nine and Piper and Brooklyn Zickefoose all of Buckhannon and Brynlea and Bevyn Hinzman both of Wheatland, Iowa; one great-grandson, Levi Stump of Buckhannon and a special caregiver, Tina Stalnaker of Lewis County, W.Va.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his step-father, Nicholas Rongyos, and two sisters, Thelma Harvey and Emma Cadman.

Mr. Beckner served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and worked for the Upshur County Board of Education.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Tina Stalnaker for the love and compassion she showed towards Bill.

In honoring Mr. Beckner’s wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no services.
