Willard J. Scott

Willard J. Scott, age 89, of Buckhannon, died at Crestview Manor in Jane Lew on Thursday, March 19, 2026. He was born on April 13, 1936, in Hemlock, a son of the late Willard Murl and Genevieve Tenney Scott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first and second wife, Anna Mae Summerville Scott and Mildred Chidester Scott; one infant daughter, Anna Mae Scott; one son, Lonnie Junior Scott; three brothers, Franklin D. Scott, Richard M. Scott, and Victor R. Scott; and one sister, Ruth E. Scott.

He is survived by four sons: Willard M. Scott and wife Vickie of Buckhannon, Michael Scott and wife Kim of Belington, Zane Scott of Elkins, and Justin Scott of Buckhannon; three daughters: Debbie and husband Mike Tenney of Buckhannon, Tammie Oldaker of Buckhannon, and Terra and husband JP Robinson of Crawford; one stepdaughter, Sheila and husband Joe Carpenter of Buckhannon; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gene Scott of Buckhannon and Billy Scott and wife Sarah of Ohio; and one sister, Rose Mary Tenney of Buckhannon.

Mr. Scott enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a retired coal miner.

The family has honored his wishes for cremation. The family will receive friends at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel on Sunday, March 22, 2026, for a memorial gathering from 12:00–1:00 PM.
