West Virginia Wildlife Center spring hours start April 1

The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) recently announced that the West Virginia State Wildlife Center in French Creek will switch to spring hours and admission rates starting April 1.

“The West Virginia State Wildlife Center is a hidden gem where families, students and nature lovers can experience the beauty of our native wildlife up close in a natural setting,” said WVDNR Director Brett McMillion. “With spring bringing warm weather and new life to the outdoors, it’s the perfect time to visit and learn more about West Virginia’s incredible wildlife.”

Starting April 1, the Wildlife Center will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $4 for adults 16 and older and $2 for children 6–15. Children 5 and younger get in for free. Annual passes also are available and entitle pass holders to unlimited visits for one year from the date of purchase. Daily tickets and annual passes can be purchased at the welcome gate upon arrival.

The West Virginia State Wildlife Center also has several events scheduled for spring and summer. To celebrate Memorial Day, the Center will host the WVDEP Mobile Aquarium, an antler shed hunt and casting activity for kids on May 24. On June 20, West Virginia Day festivities will include yard games and free cake and drinks at the gift shop. In August, the Center will host its Living History Rendezvous, which offers visitors a glimpse into historical lifestyles dating back to the Civil War.

Those interested in group visits, pavilion reservations or guided tours should contact the business office at 304-924-6211. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. To learn more about the Wildlife Center and plan a trip, visit wvdnr.gov/west-virginia-wildlife-center.
