West Virginia State Police investigating officer-involved shooting in Mingo County

On Tuesday, January 4, 2022, the Mingo County Sheriff’s Office reported an officer-involved shooting near Edgardton, West Virginia in Mingo County. The Mingo County Sheriff’s Office requested the West Virginia State Police conduct an investigation into the shooting.

The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Robert Lee Daniels Jr. of Freeburn, Kentucky. The West Virginia State Police Troop 5 Crime Scene Team conducted the crime scene investigation. The officer-involved shooting is also being investigated by the West Virginia State Police.
