West Virginia reports 375 new COVID-19 cases, four deaths on Saturday

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Saturday that 375 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.

Locally, new cases were reported in Upshur (3), Barbour (4), Lewis (1), Randolph (1) and Webster (1) counties.

A total of 29 cases are currently active in Upshur County, according to the DHHR.

Four additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – an 81-year old female from Cabell County, a 69-year old male from Monongalia County, a 45-year old female from Berkeley County, and a 66-year old male from Marion County.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of April 24, 2021, there have been 2,665,620 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 151,068 total cases and 2,817 total deaths,” according to a press release.

About 7,257 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 140,994 people have recovered and 2,817 have died. The daily percent positive was 3.33%.

A total of 553,705 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said.
