West Virginia reports 364 new COVID-19 cases, 15 deaths on Wednesday

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Wednesday that 364 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.

Locally, new cases were reported in Upshur (1), Barbour (1) and Lewis (1) counties.

A total of 15 cases are currently active in Upshur County, according to the DHHR.

Fifteen additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – a 76-year old male from Berkeley County, an 81-year old female from Cabell County, an 88-year old female from Putnam County, a 62-year old female from Mercer County, a 71-year old male from Cabell County, an 81-year old female from Kanawha County, a 54-year old male from Raleigh County, an 86-year old male from Wetzel County, an 86-year old female from Putnam County, an 81-year old male from Fayette County, an 81-year old female from Grant County, an 82-year old male from Monongalia County, an 85-year old male from Wetzel County, an 85-year old male from Jefferson County, and an 83-year old female from Mercer County.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of April 7, 2021, there have been 2,508,198 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 144,374 total cases and 2,722 total deaths,” according to a press release.

About 6,897 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 134,755 people have recovered and 2,722 have died. The daily percent positive was 3.76%.

A total of 359,706 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said.
