The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Thursday that 3,250 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s an increase of 139 since the last report.
Locally, reported active case totals are: Upshur (43), Barbour (18), Lewis (19), Randolph (46) and Webster (8) counties. In Upshur County, that’s a decrease of one active case in the last 24 hours.
Two additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – an 89-year old female from Kanawha County and a 65-year old female from Berkeley County.
“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of August 11, 2022, there are currently 3,250 active COVID-19 cases statewide. There have been two deaths reported since the last report, with a total of 7,203 deaths attributed to COVID-19,” according to a press release.
About 373 residents are hospitalized with the virus, with 57 currently in intensive care and eight on a ventilator. The daily percent positive was 9.64%.
About 55% of the state has been vaccinated for COVID-19.
