West Virginia reports 293 new COVID-19 cases on Monday

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Monday that 293 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.

Locally, new cases were reported in Barbour (1) and Randolph (2) counties.

A total of 29 cases are currently active in Upshur County, according to the DHHR.

No additional deaths were attributed to the disease over the last 24 hours, according to the DHHR.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of April 12, 2021, there have been 2,552,579 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 146,462 total cases and 2,745 total deaths,” according to a press release.

About 7,470 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 136,247 people have recovered and 2,475 have died. The daily percent positive was 6.79%.

A total of 461,008 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said.
