The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Monday that 2,859 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s a decrease of 143 since the last report.
Locally, reported active case totals are: Upshur (35), Barbour (21), Lewis (29), Randolph (12) and Webster (16) counties. In Upshur County, that’s a decrease of 11 active cases over the weekend.
No additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR.
“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of July 18, 2022, there are currently 2,859 active COVID-19 cases statewide. There were no deaths reported to DHHR over the last 24 hours, and total deaths remain at 7,102 attributed to COVID-19,” according to a press release.
About 303 residents are hospitalized with the virus, with 32 currently in intensive care and 10 on a ventilator. The daily percent positive was 18.7%.
About 55% of the state has been vaccinated for COVID-19.
