West Virginia reports 2,040 active COVID cases, no new deaths on Wednesday

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Wednesday that 2,040 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s a decrease of 110 since the last report. 

Locally, reported active case totals are: Upshur (34), Barbour (9), Lewis (34), Randolph (11) and Webster (11) counties. In Upshur County, that’s a decrease of one active case in the last 24 hours. 

No additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of July 6, 2022, there are currently 2,040 active COVID-19 cases statewide. There were no deaths reported to DHHR over the last 24 hours, and total deaths remain at 7,069 deaths attributed to COVID-19,” according to a press release. 

About 251 residents are hospitalized with the virus, with 42 currently in intensive care and seven on a ventilator. The daily percent positive was 14.65%. 

About 55% of the state has been vaccinated for COVID-19.
