The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Thursday that 1,026 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s a decrease of 29 since the last report.
Locally, COVID-19 cases are active in Upshur (12), Barbour (3), Lewis (15), Randolph (12) and Webster (8) counties. In Upshur County, that’s a decrease of two active cases in the last 24 hours.
Three additional deaths have been attributed to the disease in the last 24 hours, according to the DHHR – a 77-year old male from Mingo County, a 77-year old male from Harrison County, and an 87-year old female from Monongalia County.
“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of July 8, 2021, there have been 3,034,702 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 164,399 total cases and 2,904 deaths,” according to a press release.
The daily percent positive was 1.55%.
A total of 838,297 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said. That’s about 47% of the state.
