Wesleyan women’s tennis team picked fourth in MEC preseason poll

BRIDGEPORT – The University of Charleston women’s team has been picked to win the 2025 Mountain East Conference title, per a vote of the league’s head coaches. The Golden Eagles enter this campaign with four consecutive MEC championships.

UC head coach Alec Foote returns a trio of first-team All-MEC selections from a year ago: Michelle Connor, a sophomore; Sofiia Krasikova, a junior; Filippa Larsson, a junior from Sweden; and second-team picks Riva Hondiashvili and Sara Martinez, both juniors.

Charleston finished 18-5 last season, 5-0 in the MEC and defeated Fairmont State in the MEC Tournament Championship and in the NCAA Atlantic Regional. The Falcons are picked to finish second in the 2025 preseason poll, garnering one first-place vote.

West Virginia State was voted to finish third in the seven-team league, followed by West Virginia Wesleyan, Davis & Elkins, Frostburg State, and West Liberty.
