Wesleyan volleyball tumbles to Yellow Jackets, 3-1

INSTITUTE- The West Virginia Wesleyan volleyball team played West Virginia State University for the second time in the regular season onTeusday dropping a 3-1 decision. After losing the last match in a 3-0 sweep, the Lady Bobcats were looking to split the series with the Yellow Jackets, but it wasn’t meant to be.

The Lady Bobcats took set three after dropping the first two sets, 27-25, to force a fourth set but the Jackets prevailed 25-18. For Wesleyan, attack errors were prevalent with a 7.9% hitting percentage. The Yellow Jackets tallied 13 serving aces and 14 blocks at the net, proving to be a key difference maker in the match.

Notable performers for the Lady Bobcats included Alauna Wilson, who led the team with 12 kills. Emily Dension collected seven kills along with 15 digs. Lisadarelyn Grassals and Bhrooke Axe had 6 kills each and Axe recorded 4 block assists. Alexis Moeschler led the team in digs with 18 along with one assist.

The Lady Bobcats will play its final regular season match at home against David and Elkins College on Friday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m.
