Wesleyan volleyball falls to Glenville State and Concord

The first set of this match was a back and forth battle, as both teams worked hard to take control over this match early. The Glenville State Pioneers were able to pull away and take set one 25-17,

In set two, the Pioneers were led by Rita Kelly and Katarzyna Niderla who combined for almost 20 kills for the entire match.

The Pioneers would keep this momentum and win set two and three in similar a fashion. Defeating the Lady Bobcats in both sets 25-19, completing the sweep for the match.

Despite the slow start and finish by the Lady Bobcats they were led by Bhrooke Axe, Hope Arce-Reed, and Olivia Albrecht , as they combined for almost 25 kills for the game. These players were also assisted by Sophie Gerlach, who finished with a game high 31 assists.

Concord 3; WVWC 1

The first set of this match was very intense, and each team was looking to set the tone for the entire game. At the end of this back and forth battle the Mountain Lions were able to win set one 25-20 barely squeezing past the Lady Bobcats.

The Lady Bobcats would look to stop the momentum of the Mountain Lions in the second set but fell short, losing it 25-17. The Mountain Lions were led by Meg Williams who finished with 19 kills and Chloe Thompson who finished with 15 kills.

After losing the first two sets, the Lady Bobcats still continued to fight, which led to them winning their first set of the match, 25-20; looking to change the outlook of this game. The Lady Bobcats were led by Makenzie Yates who finished with 15 kills and Emily Denison who finished with 12 kills.

The Mountain Lions would stop the Lady Bobcats in their tracks and take back control of the match, winning the final set 25-22. Giving the Lady Bobcats’ their fourth conference loss of the season.

The Lady Bobcats will continue their 2023 campaign against West Virginia State on October 6 at 7 p.m. The Lady Bobcats will be looking to get their first conference win of the season and break this string of losses.
