Wesleyan track and field teams find success at WVU meet

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia Wesleyan men’s and women’s track & field teams competed at West Virginia University this weekend at the Stan Romanoski Open. The Bobcats had five individual event winners and one team event win. WVWC also secured over 10 top-five finishes.

How The Men Finished
Jake Harvery finished fifth in the high jump with a jump of 1.85m.

Oliver French placed seventh in the long jump at 6.16m. Destry Nelson tied for 13th in the long jump as well, jumping 5.87m.

French threw 54.54m in the javelin throw, getting second.

Evan Pyles (15:29.04), Cade Robinson (15:37.85) and Anthony Sanders (15:41.00) finished third, fourth and fifth in the 5000-meter run.

The team of Charles Malone, Tanner Faulkiner, Jose Filion and Sterlin Thropp placed third in the 4×100 relay with a time of 43.20.

Aaron Kupfner ran a 15.86 in the 110-meter hurdles, getting fifth. He also finished second in the 400-meter hurdles at 56.10.

Tanner Faulkiner placed third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.25. In the 200-meter dash, Faulkiner ran a 22.77 which was good enough for third

How The Women Finished
Samantha Cash won the 100-meter hurdles at 14.99.

Ny’Tierra Hobbs ran a 12.21 in the 100-meter dash to place first. Hobbs also won the 200-meter dash at 25.82.

Dakota Johnson finished first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:22.38.

Aubrey Wiethe won the 400-meter hurdles at 1:08.18.

Jacqualin Leaman got 10th in the hammer throw with a throw of 34.39m.

Leigha Hall finished fourth in the 5000-meter run at 18:26.61.

The team of Shannon Farrow, Loren Vargas, Hailey Dillow and Ny’Tierra Hobbs won the 4×100 relay with a time of 49.53.

Wesleyan will be at the VertKlasse Meet at High Point University on Friday (Mar. 31) and Saturday (Apr. 1).
