BRIDGEPORT – Two-time defending champion Frostburg State has been voted as the preseason favorite in the Mountain East Conference Women’s Lacrosse poll, which was announced Wednesday afternoon.

The Bobcats received four first-place votes, while the University of Charleston received one first-place vote. Wheeling, Davis & Elkins, and West Virginia Wesleyan rounded out the five-team poll.

League newcomer Dominican University of California, which joined as an associate member this fall, will compete in the MEC Championship but is not eligible for the preseason poll.

Frostburg State defeated UC, 9-2, in the 2024 MEC Championship. The Bobcats featured five student-athletes on the MEC All-Tournament team at the conclusion of that championship, and that same quintet returns to the roster in 2025. Camden DeMaio is back as a graduate student, while seniors Nicole Gray and Kerry Hayes also return. Izzy Kelly, a junior, returns after her all-tournament performance a year ago, as well as MEC Tournament MVP Neila Haney, a junior.
