Wesleyan football fills out coaching staff

BUCKHANNON – West Virginia Wesleyan College Department of Athletics announced the hiring of a new football coaching staff as the Bobcats prepare for the upcoming season under Head Coach Mike Kellar. The staff brings a blend of Division II success, professional playing experience, strong recruiting backgrounds, and deep regional ties to West Virginia.

“We are excited about the experience, energy, and leadership this staff brings to our program,” Kellar said. “Each coach has a proven track record of developing student-athletes on and off the field, and together they represent the direction we want Wesleyan football to go.”

Mike Kellar – Head Coach
A West Virginia native, Kellar brings more than two decades of collegiate coaching experience and an overall career record of 87–63. He most recently spent seven seasons as head coach at Glenville State, posting four consecutive winning seasons and reestablishing the Pioneers as a Mountain East Conference contender.

Kellar has held coaching roles at Fairmont State, California (Pa.), Concord, West Liberty, Lenoir-Rhyne, and Northern Michigan, including multiple championship runs and NCAA postseason appearances. A former collegiate quarterback, Kellar holds a master’s degree from West Virginia University and is known for building competitive, disciplined programs with strong player development foundations.

Jeremy Harmer – Offensive Coordinator / Offensive Line Coach
Harmer joins Wesleyan after six seasons on Kellar’s staff at Glenville State, where he helped engineer the program’s most successful MEC era. After beginning as wide receivers coach and pass game coordinator, Harmer transitioned to offensive coordinator and offensive line coach in 2024.

Under his direction, Glenville State ranked among the MEC leaders in total offense, passing offense, and scoring, producing multiple All-Conference selections along the offensive line and skill positions. A Shinnston, West Virginia native, Harmer began his coaching career at Fairmont State and has followed Kellar through multiple successful stops.

Mott Gaymon IV – Associate Head Coach / Defensive Coordinator / Defensive Backs
One of the most accomplished defensive coaches in the Mountain East Conference, Gaymon arrives after eight seasons as defensive coordinator at Wheeling University. His defenses consistently ranked among the league’s best in sacks, interceptions, and scoring defense, producing numerous All-Conference, All-Region, and All-American selections.

A former Wesleyan standout and 2023 WVWC Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, Gaymon brings collegiate, professional, and international coaching experience, including a championship run as head coach of the Wroclaw Panthers in Poland. His return to Wesleyan marks a homecoming for one of the program’s most respected alumni.

Josh Francis – Recruiting Coordinator / Run Game Coordinator / Linebackers Coach
Francis brings elite playing credentials and proven defensive production to the Bobcats’ staff. A former West Virginia University linebacker and signee of the Green Bay Packers, Francis has coached at West Liberty, Waynesburg, and Geneva, developing All-Conference performers and high-impact front-seven units.

At West Liberty, his defensive line produced 32 sacks and 78 tackles for loss over two seasons. Known for his recruiting acumen and player development, Francis adds a strong professional and regional presence to Wesleyan’s defensive staff.

Joshua Brown – Wide Receivers Coach
A native of Jefferson County, West Virginia, Brown brings a background in speed development, skill instruction, and championship culture. A former All-State athlete and Gatorade West Virginia Track & Field Athlete of the Year, Brown played collegiately at Edinboro University before beginning his coaching career at Fairmont State.

He has served as an offensive coordinator at Jefferson High School and was part of the coaching staff at Martinsburg High School during its 2019 Class AAA state championship season. Brown’s experience across collegiate and high school levels strengthens Wesleyan’s offensive skill development.

Ronald Jackson – Defensive Line Coach
Jackson joins the Bobcats after serving as assistant defensive line coach at Millersville University. He began his coaching career at Lycoming College, where he helped develop an All-Landmark Conference defensive tackle.

A recent graduate with both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in sports management, Jackson represents the next generation of defensive coaches with a focus on technique, effort, and player growth in the trenches.
