Wesleyan cross-country teams run in Bethany Invitational

BETHANY – The West Virginia Wesleyan cross-country teams participated in the Bethany Invitational this past Saturday hosted by Bethany College.

The Lady Bobcats, who were lead by junior Leigha Hall, after her personal best performance in the 6K by running a time of 23:17.4. 25, seconds better then her previous personal record and allowing her to come in 8th out of 172 runners. Hall was followed by Marimo Akita and Mariam Al’Zoubi who ran 25:25.5 and 25:41.1. These performances led them to a sixth place finish out of the 20 schools who competed.

The Bobcats were led by Evan Pyles who came in 11th out of 190 running, finishing with a time of 26:44.8. Pyles was followed by his teammates Kent Niland, Elijah Hannig, and Cade Robinson who finished with times of 26:59.6, 27:30.6, and 27:30.9. These performances led to the Bobcats finishing fifth overall out of the 20 schools who competed in the invitational.

Both will continue their 2023 campaign by competing in the Concord XC Festival in Pipestem, West Virginia on September 15th.
