GLENVILLE, WV – Glenville State College senior Matthew Welch invites the public to attend the opening reception for his senior art show on Monday, March 18 at 7:00 p.m. The show will run through Friday, March 22 and will be on display in GSC’s Fine Arts Center Gallery.

The exhibit, titled “A Journey to Nowhere,” will contain watercolor, sculptures, pottery, digital art, oil, and drawings in a variety of styles including abstract, realism, impressionism, and concept art.

“My inspirations come from all over. Video games, pictures, life, concepts, long conversations with friends, and other artists as well! I love to see what they are doing and it opens up things I never thought about before,” Welch said.

After graduation he plans to get a job outside of West Virginia and produce art for fun. “If the job is producing art then I’ll think I made it in life,” Welch said.

“I would love to thank friends, family, Professors Duane Chapman and Christopher Cosner for teaching me everything possible to help me grow. And I would like to thank Jeremy Rodriguez for supporting and believing in me and pushing me in the right direction. Finally I have to specifically say thanks to my mom and sister for supporting me through the worst and best of times. Thank you all,” he added.

Welch hails from Glen Daniel, West Virginia.

The Fine Arts Center Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and one hour before all GSC musical performances in the Fine Arts Center.
