Volleyball Lady ‘Cats tumble to Notre Dame, 3-0

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio. — The West Virginia Wesleyan (6-17, 2-7 Mountain East Conference) volleyball team dropped a road contest against Notre Dame (Ohio) (10-15, 4-5 MEC) on Friday (Oct. 14) in South Euclid, Ohio.

WVWC Leaders
Freshman Mya Bajramovic had a team-high 11 kills. Hope Arce-Reed added eight kills. Payton Hefner led the Lady Bobcats with 18 assists and 13 digs. Autumn Molenhouse added 12 digs. Arce-Reed and Joelle Lalla each had one block.

Inside the First Set
The Falcons jumped out to a 6-3 lead in the first set. WVWC had five runs of two or more points to eventually take the lead 16-15. Notre Dame scored three-straight points and led 19-17.

The Falcons took four of the next six points and led 23-19. Wesleyan scored four-straight points and lead 25-24, forcing a NDC timeout. After the timeout, the Falcons scored the final three points of the first set and won, 27-25.

Inside the Second Set
Wesleyan jumped out to a 4-1 lead to begin the second set. The Falcons tied the game at seven before taking 18 of the final 23 points and won the second set, 25-12.

Inside the Third Set
The Lady Bobcats claimed seven of the first 12 points and led 7-5. NDC fired off five-straight points and built a 10-7 cushion. Wesleyan rallied after Bajramovic, Arce-Reed, and Lalla each struck a kill to cut the deficit to one, 14-13.

Notre Dame College scored four of the next five points to force a WVWC timeout and led 18-14. After the timeout, the Lady ‘Cats took six of the next nine points and trailed 21-20. The Falcons won four of the final six points and ended the match with a set three win.

The Lady Bobcats will travel to Charleston, W.Va. on Tuesday (Oct. 18) to face Charleston at 7 p.m.
