Verla Edith Dimond Barlow

Verla Edith Dimond Barlow, 85 of Pittsburgh, Pa. died peacefully on Saturday, May 1, 2021.

Born June 18, 1935 in Niagara Falls, N.Y., she was the second youngest daughter of nine children of the late Charles Dimond and Edith Mary Call Dimond.

Verla is preceded in death by her husband Allan B. Barlow who were together over 60 years. She is survived by her four children, Mary Barlow (Chester Lampman) of Pittsburgh, Pa., Beth Barlow Turman of Biloxi, Miss., Allan Barlow, Jr (Joanne) of Strongsville, Ohio, Becky Moore (Andrew) of Pittsburgh, Pa., nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Verla devoted her life to her family and loved seeing her children and husband thrive.  Her unconditional love and support provided tremendous comfort to her children.  We were always welcome in her house with a warm meal waiting on the table and a box of cookies to take back home.  Even after returning to work as the office manager for David Weiss, her children remained her top priority.  She never missed a track meet, band concert, baseball game, football game or any other kid activity.  She was always in the stands supporting her children.

Weekends in the Fall were spent in parking lots, tailgating with her family and friends.  However the game was always secondary to her as she treasured the time before and after the game.  When not traveling to a sporting event, she was an avid reader and loved a good murder mystery along with cross-stitching, cooking, baking, sewing and caring for her beloved cats, Midnight and Parker.  She also loved the holidays which she went above and beyond to make every single one special for her family.   She had a heart of gold and will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, from 4-7 p.m. at the Schellhaas & Sons Funeral Home, 1600 Stone Mansion Drive (Franklin Park), Sewickley, PA 15143.  A graveside service will be held at Heavner Cemetery, 505 Hall Road, Buckhannon, WV 26201, on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at 1 p.m.

Arrangements in West Virginia are under the direction of Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel.
