Upshur County Sheriff’s Office issues press release with details regarding shooting Wednesday night

BUCKHANNON — On Thursday afternoon, the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office issued the following press release:

On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Vicksburg Road for shots fired.

Landon Kincaid, Savion Farmer, and Kody Cutright traveled together to 893 Vicksburg Rd. to engage in a physical altercation with Tristan Thompson and his acquaintances. When confronted by residents of that dwelling, Kincaid and Farmer presented firearms, in the form of semiautomatic handguns.

Numerous witnesses describe the driver as a white male, with blonde hair, and the front passenger as a black male, both in their early twenties.

Kincaid fired at least five rounds in the direction of several victims at 883, 893 and 899 Vicksburg Rd. Five fired .22 caliber cartridges were located in and near the roadway, and the trajectory was determined by gouge marks made by two of the rounds.

One victim, Henry Cabic, stated that when ordering Kincaid to leave the property, Kincaid presented a small handgun, and pulled the trigger three times in the direction of the victim’s chest and neck area, but the firearm did not discharge. Cabic believes that if the firearm would have discharged, he would have been killed.

Seconds later, Kincaid was able to charge a loaded round into the firearm and begin recklessly firing the handgun out of the driver’s window of his vehicle, as they sped away recklessly toward the City of Buckhannon.

Numerous witnesses and victims provided that Landon Kincaid was seated in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, and fired the handgun in his possession numerous times toward a number of innocent victims.

Savion Farmer is charged with two (2) counts of wanton endangerment with firearm and conspiracy to commit a felony.

Landon Kincaid is charged with attempted murder, five (5) counts of wanton endangerment with firearm, and conspiracy.

The Upshur County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by WV State Police and the Buckhannon Police Department.
