Upshur County Recreation Complex to host summer league basketball in July; sign your team up today

BUCKHANNON – Upshur County Summer League Basketball is back again!

Upshur County Recreation Complex President Mitchell Shaw is excited to announce that the UCRC will again be hosting Upshur County’s annual summer basketball league.

The league is slated to play during the month of July, but the exact start date is to-be-determined and will be based on the number of teams that enroll.

This year, entry fees will be $30 per player, and will cover the cost of a jersey. In addition, there’s a limit of 12 players per team with no more than three current or former male collegiate players per team. (Please note former means within the last 10 years.)

Female players are welcome as well, and UCRC is seeking team sponsorships at a cost of $250 per team. In addition, UCRC is now recruiting WVSSAC qualified referees to help, and the refs will be compensated for their time. The summer league is a great chance for newer referees to get some experience.

“We have some awesome things in the works this year and look forward to another successful year,” Shaw said.

To register a team, please reach out to Mitchell Shaw via Facebook Messenger or text message. You may also email upshurcountyrecreationcomplex@gmail.com.

A private nonprofit organization, the goal of the Upshur County Recreation Complex, Inc., is to build a full-scale recreation complex in Upshur County aimed at enhancing the quality of life for the citizens of Upshur County. The complex would function as a vital economic development driver.
