The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Monday that 276 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.
Locally, new cases were reported in Upshur (2), Barbour (5), Randolph (1) and Webster (3) counties.
A total of 25 cases are currently active in Upshur County, according to the DHHR.
Six additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – an 86-year old male from Cabell County, a 68-year old male from Putnam County, an 81-year old male from Kanawha County, a 65-year old female from Kanawha County, a 71-year old male from Putnam County, and a 64-year old male from Upshur County.
“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of March 22, 2021, there have been 2,364,411 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 138,102 total cases and 2,612 total deaths,” according to a press release.
About 5,600 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 129,890 people have recovered and 2,612 have died. The daily percent positive was 5.21%.
A total of 267,927 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said.
