Upshur County is proud to recognize the outstanding achievements of its FFA members who recently competed at the state level in several leadership development and career-based competitions.
Haley Krum represented the chapter in the FFA Creed Speaking Contest, earning a top 5 placement in the state of West Virginia. The Creed Speaking contest challenges FFA members to recite the FFA Creed and answer questions about its meaning, allowing members to demonstrate their public speaking skills and abilities.
Miah McCue represented the chapter in the Employment Skills Contest, also placing in the top 5 in the state. This competition prepares members for real-world job opportunities by having them create a resume and cover letter, fill out a job application, and participate in an interview with judges. This competition helps members develop the skills necessary for the future in any career.
In addition, three members – Jaxon Cutlip, Eli Courtney, and Gabe Rowan – showcased their skills and knowledge in the Tractor Driving Contest. This competition judges members on their safe operation, control, and maneuvering, as well as their knowledge of tractor safety and maintenance.
FFA is also proud to celebrate its chapter’s leadership role; we had 13 delegates participate in the 2025-2026 State Officer Elections. In addition, our chapter president, Jaiden Fordyce, served on the Nominating Committee- a prestigious role. The nominating committee is tasked with interviewing, evaluating, and recommending candidates for the State FFA Officers, ensuring the best individuals are selected to serve and lead the organization. Jaiden served as an excellent representative of Upshur County.
The Upshur County FFA Chapter is incredibly proud of each member who competed. Their hard work and dedication to represent Upshur County at the state level demonstrate the strength and commitment of the next generation of agriculture leaders.
