Upshur County CVB hiring part-time operations assistant

The Upshur County Convention & Visitors Bureau is looking to hire a part-time operations assistant to staff the Visitors Center on weekends and support marketing and community outreach efforts.

The position pays $14 per hour, and applications received by the close of business on April 10 will be reviewed and considered, though applications will continue to be accepted until the position is filled.

Title: CVB Operations Assistant
Reports To: CVB Executive Director
Status & Pay: Part-Time; $14.00 per hour

Summary of Position:

The CVB Operations Assistant is a part-time, at-will, flexible position that plays a key role in representing Upshur County to visitors, residents, and partners. This individual serves as the front line of the Visitors Center during weekend hours, providing exceptional customer service, supporting marketing and communication efforts, and assisting with community-focused initiatives. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, reliable, and comfortable working independently during weekend office hours.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Promote Upshur County and support the mission of increasing overnight stays
  • Assist guests in the Visitors Center by answering questions in person and by phone
  • Maintain and update the Upshur County CVB website, including the event calendar
  • Assist with social media content creation and scheduling
  • Organize and restock brochure racks and maintain a clean, welcoming lobby
  • Support event management and staffing during major community events
  • Construct the monthly CVB newsletter
  • Maintain open communication with the director regarding daily operations, visitor needs, and community updates
  • Participate in community involvement activities as needed

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with direction and oversight
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills and a friendly, welcoming demeanor
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and basic web editing tools
  • Dependable, trustworthy, and comfortable serving as the primary staff member on duty during weekend hours

Work Schedule:

  • Saturdays: 10:00 AM–3:00 PM
  • Sundays: 12:00 PM–3:00 PM
