Update: Tractor trailer driver cited following wreck at Route 33 / Brushy Fork intersection

A South Carolina man was issued two citations following a wreck at the intersection of Route 33 and Brushy Fork Road on Monday.

Clarence Stabler, 55, of Swansea, S.C. was cited for failure to yield and failure to maintain control, according to investigating officer Lt. Doug Loudin with the Buckhannon Police Department.

Loudin said a red Chevy Trailblazer driven by Alexis Sunderman, 29, of Volga had the green light and was crossing Route 33 when Stabler’s tractor trailer, which was headed westbound toward Weston, ran the red light and struck the SUV just before 3 p.m. Monday.

Sunderman was ejected from the vehicle, according to Loudin. She was taken by EMS to the Upshur County Regional Airport and flown by HealthNet to Ruby Memorial Hospital. She has since been released, Loudin said.

Her husband, Kyle Sunderman, and two children were also in the vehicle at the time of the wreck. They were taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital and have also been released. Stabler declined medical transport, Loudin said.
