Tucker wins Player of the Week award for second time

Makatlyn Tucker has been named the Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second time.

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — West Virginia Wesleyan’s Makatlyn Tucker is the Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Week, while Notre Dame’s Kyra McDowell has been recognized as the Defensive Player of the Week.

Tucker, a freshman from Salem, W.Va., helped the Bobcats to a pair of wins with seven points in two matches. She registered a goal and assist in a win over West Liberty, and then had a goal and a pair of helpers in a win over Glenville State.

McDowell, a sophomore from Ogden, Utah, helped Notre Dame run its winning streak to five last week. She made six saves in a key MEC North Division win over Fairmont State, and then made three stops in a shutout win over West Liberty.

Offense: Pilar Elias (CU) tallied a brace against Wheeling Jesuit … Angie Kerth (UU) scored against Shepherd … Brogan Pifer (SU) had a pair of goals in a 5-4 win over Urbana … Keira Hill (UC) had a goal against both Urbana and Fairmont State in wins for the Golden Eagles … Emily Hartley (WJU) found the back of the net twice against Concord … Abigail Johnson (FSU) had a goal against Charleston.
Defense: Chelsea Hubner (WVWC) was a part of two shutouts last week with two saves in 76 minutes of work … Katie Maher (CU) and made 10 saves in a 1-0-1 week for the Mountain Lions.
