PICKENS — The Buckhannon Upshur Camera Club was pleased to participate in the annual Maple Syrup Festival held in Pickens. Numerous BUCC photographers displayed 119 photos to the multitude of guests who attended the lively spring festival held under sunny skies.

Event chairpersons, Anthony and Dawn Ovies, as well as Gary and Reta McCoy, and club members, wish to thank the festival committee, the Pickens Fire Department and all the wonderful folks who toured the exhibit.

The sole ribbon for the event was awarded by the votes of the people visiting the photography display.  While votes were widely scattered, the top vote went to Al Tucker’s “Stonewall Lake Sunset.” A total of seven hundred ninety-seven ballots were cast for the various photos. The People’s Choice ribbon was awarded at a recent camera club meeting with recipient Al Tucker and presenter Anthony Ovies pictured. Additionally, local maple syrup sweetened the prize.

This was such an enjoyable event, and club members hope to see several of our visitors there again next year. Many thanks to folks who purchased photographs and, in doing so, supported our local photographers.

The Buckhannon Upshur Camera club meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at the Upshur County Senior Center at 7 p.m. We enjoy trips and activities all year round. New members and guests are always welcome!
