Trever Mitchel Carpenter, age 81, of Tallmansville, WV, died Thursday, February 12, 2026, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born December 11, 1944, in Hemlock, WV, a son of the late Kessler and Annie Leigh Carpenter.
On May 1, 1970, he married Brenda Lea Wagoner, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Mitchel Carpenter and wife Marquita and Travis Carpenter, all of Tallmansville; two daughters, Angela Carpenter-Herron and husband Ricky of Tallmansville and Vanessa Carpenter-Daniels and husband Jack of Buckhannon, WV; three grandsons, Rick Herron, Ethan Herron and wife Jerika, and Skyler Wood and wife Hannah, all of Tallmansville; two granddaughters, Valerie Wood of Buckhannon and Tonja S. Herron of Tallmansville; four great-grandsons, Briston, Bryson, and Brantley Herron and Malachi Wood, all of Tallmansville; two brothers, Larry Carpenter and wife Christine of Tallmansville and Eddie Carpenter and wife Betty of Buckhannon; three sisters, Grace Dennison of Hemlock, Elizabeth Macciorone of TX, and Sharon Carpenter of Buckhannon; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Dorsey, Denley, Olen, and Benford Carpenter, and three sisters, Regina and Terry Carpenter and Delane Riffle.
Mr. Carpenter retired from Mike Ross Inc. as an equipment operator and well tender. Other careers involved operating and working on heavy equipment. He was a lifetime singer and guitarist. His favorite pastime was playing his guitar and singing with family and friends.
The family would like to send special thanks to Jack, Brooke, Christine, and Stephanie of Adoration Hospice and his long-time physician, Kessa Thorpe, for their loving care.
Friends will be received Monday, February 16, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Holly Hoover officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Church Cemetery in Hemlock. A dinner will be served after the committal.
