Track and Field Lady Bucs run third at Big 10 Championship

GRAFTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc track and field program took third place in the recent Big 10 Conference Championships last Friday at Grafton.

The Lady Bucs claimed three individual Big 10 titles as Dezi Pugh won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 47.79, Chloe Cale claimed the long jump with a leap of 15-04.75 and Cameron Zuliani won first place in the discus with a throw of 126-02.

The three championships held the Lady Bucs amass 84 points.

North Marion won the conference title with 109 points while Preston was second with 94.

Rounding out the top five of the 13-team event behind the Lady Bucs were Fairmont Senior in fourth with 70 points and Philip Barbour fifth with 44 points.

The Lady Bucs claimed one runner-up as the foursome of Pugh, Catherine Oliveto, Zuliani and Cale took second in the 4×200-meter relay with a time of 1:50.60.

Buckhannon-Upshur claimed five third places that went to Samantha Shreve in the 3200-meter run (11.49.05), Pugh in the 100-meter hurdles (17.28), Zuliani in the 300-meter hurdles (51.74), the 4×102.5-meter shuttle hurdle relay team of Oliveto, Zuilani, Pugh and Cale (69.45), and Catherine Neely in the discus (98-11).

Picking up fourths were Oliveto in the 200-meter dash (27.48), Cale in the 100-meter hurdles (17.74) and Shreve in the 1600-meter run (5:41.82).

Getting a lone fifth for Buckhannon-Upshur was Shreve in the 800-meter run (2:35.90).

Wrapping up the B-U scoring with sixths were Oliveto in the 400-meter run (63.91) and the 4×800-meter relay team of Miah Reger, Mia Sappey, Ashley Catlin and Shreve (10:44.81).

The Lady Bucs will run again Thursday in the Region I Championships at Mylan Park in Morgantown.
