Track and field Lady Bucs easily win home meet

TENNERTON – With seven victories under their belts, the Buckhannon-Upshur track and field Lady Bucs had little trouble bringing home the team title in their own seven-team home meet Tuesday evening.

The Lady Bucs piled up 161 points, way ahead of second-place Philip Barbour with 92 points.

Elkins was third (67 points), Tygarts Valley was fourth (59), Lewis County claimed fifth (49), Grafton was sixth (41) and Tucker County was seventh (22).

The Lady Bucs won seven individual titles while earning one relay win.

Catherine Oliveto, Cameron Zuliani and Samantha Shreve each won two events. Oliveto earned her two wins in the 200-meter dash (27.20) and the 400-meter dash (1:03.27) while Zuliani took first in the 300-meter hurdles (53.41), and the discus (118-07). Shreve won the 1600-meter run (5:48.32) and 3200-meter run (12:42.98).

The other victory belonged to Chloe Cale in the long jump (16-09).

The relay win went to the 4×200-meter relay unit of Dezi Pugh, Oliveto, Zuliani and Cale (1:51.34).

Buckhannon-Upshur claimed five-second places that went to Cale in the 100-meter dash (13.55), Mia Sappey in the 800-meter run (2:47.20), Pugh in the 100-meter hurdles (17.52), Jessica Williams in the high jump (4-04) and Catherine Neely in the discus (94-11.5)

B-U racked up two third places that belonged to Kadence Monti in the long jump (14-06) and Regina Petrokovich in the discus (79-09).

The Lady Bucs will run again Saturday in the Morgantown Invitational at Mylan Park at 11:30 a.m.
