BUCKHANNON – My Buckhannon is proud to present another edition of the Hank Ellis All-Stars.

We will select a female and male athlete at Buckhannon-Upshur each Monday this winter that has had an exemplary week on the mat, in the pool or on the basketball court.

Our Hank Ellis All-Stars for the week of Dec. 12-18 are Tucker Hurst and Shelby McDaniels.

Hurst in a senior on the wrestling team. He went a perfect 8-0 for the wrestling Bucs at the two-day Musselman Duals on Friday and Saturday.

Hurst wrestled out of the 138-pound bracket.

It was a close call on the boy’s side as Aidan Wilson and Liam Garcia each went 8-0 as well, but Hurst gets our nod this week. The Bucs will be back in action Wednesday at Parkersburg.

McDaniels is a senior guard on the Lady Buc basketball team. In a 2-0 week for the Lady Bucs, where they recorded victories on the road at Lincoln and at home over Musselman, McDaniels averaged 22.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 steals and 3.5 assists.

The Lady Bucs are 4-0 on the season and will be idle until Dec. 28 when they compete in the Holiday Hoop Fest at California (Pa.).

Congratulations to Hurst and McDaniels as our weekly winners of the Hank Ellis All-Stars honor.
