This week’s Hank Ellis All-Stars: Shawn Blandino and Lydia Falkenstein

BUCKHANNON – My Buckhannon is proud to present another edition of the Hank Ellis All-Stars. Each week we will select a female and male athlete at Buckhannon-Upshur that has had an exemplary week on the baseball or softball diamond, the lacrosse field, the tennis courts or the track.

Our Hank Ellis All-Stars for the week of April 17 – April 23 are Shawn Blandino and Lydia Falkenstein.

Blandino is a senior on the Buccaneer track and field team.

In a five-team home meet last Tuesday, Blandino won the 200-meter dash (23.26) and was part of three first place relay teams – the 4×100-meter relay (45.78), the 4×200-meter relay (1:35.85) and the 4×400-meter relay (3:39.02). In the Capitol City Classic in Charleston on Saturday, he placed second in the 400-meter dash (51.25) and was part of the first place 4×400-meter relay squad (3:32.29), second place 4×100-meter relay team (44.86) and second place 4×200-meter relay team (1:34.26).

Falkenstein is a senior on the Buckhannon-Upshur track and field team.

In B-U’s weekly meet, she claimed first place in the 3,200-meter run (11:42.15), was the second leg in the first place 4×800-meter relay team (10:50.51) and was part of the third place 4×400-meter relay squad (4:44.10). In the Capitol City Classic, she took first in the 3,200-meter run (11:42.70) and finished second in the 1,600-meter run (5:30.23) and was part of the second place 4×800-meter relay team (10:51.11).

Congratulations to Blandino and Falkenstein as our weekly winners of the Hank Ellis All-Stars honor.
